Should a male with long hair comb his hair daily?

Lots of good info for guys with long hair or those on their long hair journey.

A lot depends on the type of hair you have. If it’s stick straight or very slightly wavy (types 1a, 1b, 1c), then sure, have at it …but do be gentle.

I’m wondering about attachment and transference with the therapist and the idea of escape and fantasy? How much do you think your strong feelings, constant thoughts, desires to be with your therapist are a way to escape from your present life? I wonder if the transference serves another purpose than to show us our wounds and/or past experiences, but is a present coping strategy for managing what we don’t want to face (even if unconsciously) in the present—-current relationships, life circumstances, etc. Can anyone relate to this concept of escape in relation to their therapy relationship? How does this play out for you?

If you have any of the wavy or curly types of hair (2a and beyond), no, you shouldn’t brush or comb your hair unless it’s wet. Dry brushing or combing wavy or curly hair can damage it and often results in a serious case of split ends and frizzies. The best way to “comb” dry wavy to curly hair is with your fingers. Wavy and curly hair is often dry so brushing or combing it isn’t going to be distributing your natural oils to any great degree …because your scalp doesn’t produce a lot of natural oils (sebum).
